How to Use the Walmart Affiliate Program: Simple Steps to Your First Commission

If you’re searching for How to use Walmart Affiliate Program to earn online, you’re in the right place.
This article explains how Walmart’s affiliate program works, how to set it up, and how it compares to Wealthy Affiliate (founded by Kyle and Carson).

You’ll learn about commissions, tracking cookies, linking, and content tips so you can make smarter choices.
In short, this guide shows you exactly what the Walmart program does, what Wealthy Affiliate offers, and which path fits your goals.

What is Walmart?

What is Walmart?

Walmart is Amazon’s main rival in North America. It’s big, strong, and everywhere.

  • Sam Walton opened the first store in Rogers, Arkansas, in 1962.
  • By 1980: 276 stores and thousands of employees.
  • Twelve years later: 1,928 stores and 371,000 employees.
  • Today: around 11,000 stores in 27 countries and roughly 2.3 million employees.
  • The core model: keep prices low. Always.

Consider Walmart

  • You earn a commission on each qualifying sale.
  • The program is tied to Walmart.com (online sales only).
  • When your visitors buy on Walmart.com through your link, you earn.
  • In-store purchases don’t count; walk-ins cannot be credited.

Walmart’s Affiliate Program

  • You apply to become a Walmart affiliate.
  • Walmart reviews your application.
  • Your site must be family-friendly and active at the time of application.
  • A blog or content-driven site is expected.
  • Once approved, you get access to your affiliate dashboard and links.
  • You can create links and widgets to promote products on your site.

Commission structure (general)

  • Typical commissions range from 1%–4% on many product categories.
  • Some categories are excluded or pay $0 commission (see below).

Non-paying affiliates are

  • Tires
  • Sam’s Club
  • Walmart Internet (services)
  • Gift Cards
  • Travel
  • Pharmacy

Cookie window: Walmart generally uses a 3-day cookie.
Buttons/links: You can build “Buy Now” buttons in JavaScript or HTML.

What can a Walmart affiliate promote?

Walmart carries products for almost any niche.

Popular categories include:

  • Movies
  • Music
  • Books
  • Remodeling and home improvement
  • Apparel
  • Shoes
  • Jewelry (“bling”)
  • Baby products
  • Sports equipment
  • And thousands more

Walmart affiliates can make money

Commissions are smaller than some specialty programs, but volume can make up for it. There’s no cap on what you can earn.

  • Example: At a 4% commission on an average order of $40, each sale pays $1.60.
    • 10 sales/day$16/day (about $480/month).
    • Raise the average order value or daily sales and your revenue grows.
  • Consistency and creative marketing move the needle.
Walmart money-making tips

Walmart money-making tips

1. WalmartSDK

Add clean calls-to-action and product boxes.

  • Embed product info and a Buy button.
  • Link straight to Walmart with your affiliate ID.
  • Make it easy for users to click and purchase.

2. Walmart extension

Use a product research extension to spot best-sellers.

  • Promote items that already have demand.
  • Track price, stock, and ratings to back your picks.

3. Plugin Walmart

If you use WordPress, a Walmart-compatible plugin helps.

  • Search products by keyword from inside WordPress.
  • Build comparison tables and product lists faster.
  • Keep links updated without manual edits.

Walmart Affiliate Program promotion

Promote the Walmart Affiliate Program itself if you’re allowed and it fits your audience.

  • Share how you use it.
  • Create a simple “How I monetize with Walmart” page.
  • Add clear CTAs to relevant posts.

4. Walmart reviews

Product reviews convert well.

  • Target long-tail keywords (e.g., “XYZ stroller review”).
  • Cover pros, cons, and who it’s best for.
  • Add real photos or usage notes where possible.
  • Finish with a bold Buy button.

5. E-commerce

Treat your site like a store.

  • Use email to highlight deals and seasonal picks.
  • Segment your list by interest (e.g., baby gear, fitness, DIY).
  • Send “Top 5 under $50” roundups with your links.

Social media presence

Social helps you reach more buyers.

  • Post short reviews, quick demos, and unboxings.
  • Link to your review pages (or directly, if the platform allows).
  • The larger your audience, the more clicks you’ll earn.

Note: Amazon is the most popular U.S. online retailer, but Walmart remains a strong alternative. As with any program, weigh pros and cons before committing your time.

Wealthy Affiliate

6. Wealthy Affiliate

Wealthy Affiliate’s surprise

The community is the standout feature.

  • Members answer fast, offer feedback, and share wins.
  • “Site Comments” helps new sites look active and credible.
  • You help others and earn credits for comments on your own posts.

7. Difference

I’m not here to promise quick cash. I’m here to help.

Wealthy Affiliate focuses on four simple steps. Here they are, then we’ll unpack them:

  • Niche down
  • Site-build
  • Visitorize your website (get traffic)
  • Profit!

8. Niche down

Your niche is the topic your site will serve. Picking one is step one.

Niche selection tips:

  • Treat this as a long-term project, not a shortcut to fast money.
  • Put in steady effort; growth compounds.
  • Choose a topic you’re happy to write about for months.
  • Aim for a clear audience and clear problems you can solve.

Is Wealthy Affiliate Scam?

Fair question. Here’s the straight answer:

  • WA offers a free Starter option—no credit card required.
  • Paid plans unlock hosting, more training, and advanced tools.
  • You still need to do the work. No program can skip that.
  • It’s not a “get rich quick” scheme. It’s a structured way to build a real site.

Premium Membership Scam?

Premium is paid, but it’s value for the right person.

  • Training, hosting, support, and tools in one place.
  • Private messaging with members (including the owners).
  • If you use what you learn, the cost can pay for itself over time.

Findings

My experience: the platform is legitimate, the training is practical, and the community helps you move faster. Start free, explore the lessons, and upgrade only if it makes sense for you.

9. Wealthy Affiliate was founded…

Wealthy Affiliate has grown to a large, active membership. You’ll find beginners, experienced bloggers, and full-time marketers in one place.

  • The team is professional, helpful, and present.
Up-to-Date Training

11. Wealthy Affiliate: Up-to-Date Training

Digital marketing changes fast. WA updates training often and keeps the four-step path simple:

Plans and access (as commonly described):

  • Starter: Free access, 1 website, core training.
  • Premium: Full training and features.
  • Premium Plus: Adds advanced tools like managed hosting and Jaaxy Enterprise.

Try the Starter plan first. Upgrade only if you see value.

12. Wealthy Affiliate’s training covers internet business essentials

You won’t be on this journey alone. The community is friendly, quick to respond, and focused on helping you achieve real results.

Have a question? You’ll get answers in minutes. Want to share a win? You’ll be met with encouragement and support.

Best of all, there’s no credit card required to start. You can open a free Starter account, explore the first lessons, and see if the training style and pace are the right fit for you.
It’s a simple, risk-free way to find out if this is exactly what you’ve been looking for.

Walmart vs. Wealthy Affiliate

Both can work—but they serve different needs.

  • Walmart Affiliate Program: Great if you already have traffic and want to promote physical products across many categories. Lower commissions, but massive product variety and brand trust.
  • Wealthy Affiliate: A full training and tools platform to build the kind of site that earns across programs (including Walmart, Amazon, specialty networks, and more).

Wealthy Affiliate often competes with programs like Solo Build It. I’ve recommended SBI in the past, but Wealthy Affiliate’s free Starter access and community support make it hard to beat for beginners and returning bloggers alike.

How Long Does Wealthy Affiliate Take?

It depends on your time and consistency. More focused hours mean faster progress—there’s no shortcut.

  • 1 hour a day: Slow but steady. Expect months before you see reliable traffic.
  • 2–4 hours a day: Faster learning and publishing. Many see early results within a few months.
  • Full-time (6–8 hours a day): Quickest path, but income still builds over 6–12 months.

Bottom line: show up daily, publish helpful content, and keep improving. Consistent work wins.

  1. I was not aware that Walmart has an affiliate program. That is actually really interesting. I was about to join their affiliate program until I saw that you do not get much commission. I am currently working with Amazon and the commission you get there is 10% which is reasonable. I think 4% is a bit too little but it’s still a great affiliate program.

    1. I did not know that Walmart only pays 1% commission either until I did some research. This is too little for the work you put into it. Amazon is better since the commission is higher I also advertise for Amazon through Kit.co

In Kit.co you build Kits and get a link you can advertise when someone clicks they have the option to buy the product from Amazon. It is a good idea because you can build a Kit with more than one product and sell more than one product at a time. You can create kits for every niche the opportunities are endless.

I hope this helps, good luck with building awesome Kits and making multiple sales with one click.
